Display: Leta

— Reasoning: Leta is skilled in visualising, a vital part of creating a sketch plan for display. With her ability of visualising, being in charge of the display could be beneficial for the whole team as a whole, especially during the execution part of this project.

— Reasoning: Beverly and Alicia have a vast connection and understanding regarding buying materials. With this, it is only appropriate for Alicia and Beverly to both be in charge of the sourcing aspect of this project.

— Reasoning: Rauf has the ability to infuse traditional cultures into designs, which is beneficial in the making of the packaging design. I believe my skill of making ideas into reality/real life object would be beneficial in creating the packaging aspect of this project, especially in terms of the technical sketch/design.

I believe my skills could contribute to the group by helping find the middle ground in decision making. I also would be able to help the team in keeping track of the assignment and get things done before the deadline.

My group members’ skills could cover for my weaknesses, for example, communication skills. Furthermore, my group members could help inspire me in generating ideas as most of the time, it takes me a lot of time to generate an idea.

This project also benefits me by further increasing my skills and exploring new ideas for future projects. It also shows me the parts in which I am lacking so I could develop and sharpen my skills even more. Moreover, this project allows me to understand more about the thought and production process of creating products and packaging and help me find my ideal career in the future.

My role in this project is to create packaging for the products. Based on the sketches and prototypes of the products, there are some that have organic shapes and they all differ in size. Because of this, it is needed for the packaging to be able to fit all different shapes and sizes, meaning that it needs to be adjusted according to the shape and size of the product itself. Furthermore, it is important to keep the product secure during shipping to prevent it from being damaged or broken. As for the design of the packaging, it needs to fit the chosen theme, which is bohemian, meaning that the packaging needs to be made using the chosen colour palette.

Since graphic design is my area of expertise, analysing my skills and role in this project shows how my personal strengths could help the group in the production process and add new knowledge in creating the packaging. Furthermore, it shows the skills that I could improve even more.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROJECT

My contribution in this project is creating and plan the packaging technical aspect, as well as helping the group in the costing. Furthermore, as a group, we created the presentation slides together. When creating the slides, I also help in keeping track of what may be missing or have not been added to the slides.

HANDLING THE FABRIC

Being a part of the traditional culture of NTB, I believe it is important to handle the fabric carefully and respectfully. One of them is by not manipulating the patterns on the fabric. By not manipulating the patterns, the products would be able to showcase the original design of the traditional fabric. Furthermore, if a cut out of the fabric is required, then it would be done in a way that respects the fabric—for example, not cutting from the middle part of the fabric if only a part of the pattern is needed.

MEETING NOTES

When dividing the roles, Beverly and Alicia chose sourcing, Leta chose display, and Rauf and I chose packaging. As the team leader, Alicia chose sourcing to keep track of our works and the materials that we bought for this project. Though we all were given specific roles, we still discuss with one another and get the opinions and suggestions that would be applied to the final product, display, and packaging.
