Interview
Introduction
Gender stereotype is a generalised observation of how men and women behave. However, this observation has created some problems due to people using and teaching this generalised behaviour as the way men and women should act. This results in men having to suppress their emotions and women being discriminated against due to the stereotypical perspective of how and why they act that way.
Questions:
To start of the interview, I would like to ask
Are you aware of gender stereotypes?
What do you think is the main purpose of having these stereotyped behaviours for the genders? (Is it just for observation and learning purposes or is it created to build a person’s character?)
How do you think men and women should behave? Should they comply with the stereotyped behaviours?
(If there is any clear difference for the first part of q.3) what makes you think that gender should behave that way?
Is there any personal experience that has anything to do with gendered behaviours/stereotypes? What do you feel when that happens?
What are your thoughts regarding the stereotyped behaviours for different genders? Do you agree with the existing concept and how it is used today? Why or why not?
How do you think having stereotyped behaviours for genders could impact society? Would it create a positive or negative outcome in the long run?
Do you think that the concept of gender stereotype should be taught to future generations or should it be removed? Why or why not?
(if it should be removed) What do you think is the most effective way to remove it from society’s mindset?
