Explanation:
The main concept of the monogram is to create a metaphorical design, which could embody Cindy's character. With this in mind, I began to interview Cindy and ask her questions relating to her personality, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, as well as her insecurities. From the interview, I was able to get an idea on how to portray Cindy’s character in the monogram. Once the interview was done, I began researching different symbols, elements, and imagery to create a suitable monogram design. While researching, I created four different sketches. After showing the sketches, I received feedback which was implemented to create the final design.

After creating the final sketch, the digital version was created. However, major changes had to be made. After many tries in designing the letters, I decided to change the entire design instead of re-editing the initial composition, which leads to the final design.

The main point of the monogram is the two crescent moons. These moons stand for her initials, which is “CC”. The moons represent the idea of making dreams into reality. I used this symbolism to show Cindy’s hard-working character that constantly improves herself to achieve her dream.

The letters are placed in an arrangement that depicts Cindy's ambivert nature. Furthermore, the placements also mirror the sides she shows people and the side she keeps hidden. To express this idea even further, the use of two colors—yellow and 'yellow-ish' brown—would showcase her 'brighter' and 'darker' side. The outer 'C' uses yellow to show her funny, creative, hardworking, and cheerful side; while the inner 'C' uses a darker color to show her hidden melancholy and insecurities. As for the colors used, yellow or warm-toned colors are the ideal tones to use for the monogram design. I used a brighter color on the outside as it is more eye-catching compared to the brown color I used for the inner ‘C’. These colors were able to accurately portray Cindy’s identity.

The sunrise placed in the middle of the design represents opportunity and life. Based on my personal observations and the interview, I believe Cindy is someone who takes every opportunity given to her in order to achieve her dream. Moreover, she seems to be noticeably lively, cheerful, and energetic.

For this monogram composition, I decided to focus more on the use of curved shapes. The curved shapes reflect the idea of community and connection. According to Cindy, the said elements are important to her growth and development in character as it greatly impacts her values, morals,
as well as beliefs.

For the physical version, I used polyfoam, papers, glue, a cutter, and a printer to print the design. The main material for the physical version is polyfoam. First, the design was printed out on A4 paper. Then, I stick the paper to the polyfoam which will be cut into different shapes. The cut-out paper was then stuck onto the cut-out polyfoam. Once everything had dried, the cut-outs were then rearranged and stuck to the polyfoam base.
